Pioneer Harvest Fiesta 2011 A Success!
A Thursday evening parade kicked off the 55th annual Pioneer Harvest Fiesta on September 22nd, 2011. The parade was led by Grand Marshall Leonard Lemmon in his 1925 Model T truck closely followed by Raymond Barker on his 1939 Farmall F-20, which was the featured tractor of this year’s show. Raymond and Marie Barker’s granddaughters, Katlin and Hope Barker, were also in the parade as the Pioneer Harvest Fiesta queen and princess. The parade consisted of 68 entries of floats, tractors, antique cars and trucks, marching bands and horseback riders.
The show started out in full force on Friday morning as many vendors and exhibitors had already come and set up. All the working exhibits were running all day and more than 200 local school children saw how farming was done in the past. A free bean feed was held at 5:00 and everyone enjoyed a bowl or two of ham and beans with a piece of tasty corn bread.

There were many working exhibits running the length of the show. Threshing, straw baling, corn husking and shelling were some of the attractions. Our sawmill kept busy all weekend sawing logs into lumber. We had two steam engines on the grounds this year and they took turns running the threshing machine and sawmill. Spectators could walk the grounds and view over 100 tractors on display as well as over 50 gas engines. The entertainment tent was a favorite spot where folks could hear great local talent and participate in a worship service on Sunday morning. The Merchant’s building was filled with beautiful quilts for the quilt show and the 4-H building was the site of the arts and crafts fair.
Thanks to all the members, corporate sponsors, volunteers, vendors and exhibitors, the 55th annual Pioneer Harvest Fiesta show was a great success!
